Platform Theme

On an earlier plan? Plan names and inclusions changed when we moved to Free, Creator, Pro, Pro + LMS and Enterprise. If you are on an earlier plan, your subscription continues unchanged and you keep everything it included — so you may still see features this article lists under a higher plan. Nothing has been removed from your account.

Theme Settings is where Super Admins brand the portal — its name, logos, colours and fonts — so the platform matches your organisation.

Open Theme Settings

In the top navigation bar, click the dropdown (▼) next to your profile icon and select Theme Settings. It has three tabs: General, Colors and Font.

General

The General tab holds your portal name, custom domain, search-engine setting and logos.

  • Portal Name — used in emails, notifications and browser tabs. Type the name and click Update.

  • Bring Your Own Domain — connect your own web address, such as learn.yourdomain.com, and click Save. Available on Pro + LMS and Enterprise. See How can I use my domain name with Coursebox?

  • Allow search engines to index this portal — when it's off, search engines such as Google don't list your portal's home and login pages. Changes can take about 15 minutes to apply.

  • Header Logo — usually a white PNG with transparency, at least 100px high. If you switch the header to white, use a colour logo.

  • Portal Icon — shown on apps and browser tabs. Upload a .png, .jpg or .ico file; PNG and JPG files are converted to .ico automatically.

  • Sharing Image — a PNG of 600 × 315 px or larger, shown as the thumbnail when your portal is shared on social media.

  • Email Logo — a PNG at least 100px high, used in the emails Coursebox sends.

To replace an image, click Upload next to it.

To add custom HTML to your portal's header bar and footer, go to Settings → Appearance — see Appearance Settings.

Colors

Open the Colors tab. Click a colour swatch to pick a colour, or type a HEX code in the box next to it. Use the side menu to switch between Portal Colors and Course Colors.

Portal Colors

The portal around your courses:

  • Brand — buttons, highlights and accents across the portal

  • Body background — the background behind every portal page

  • Header background and Header text — the top bar that holds your logo, search and profile

  • Left menu background and Left menu text — the side navigation menu

  • Page header text — the titles at the top of each page

Course Colors

Click Course Colors in the side menu to set the colours inside courses, lessons and SCORM exports.

  • Body background — behind course pages and lessons

  • Course overview main block background and text — the banner at the top of the course overview page

  • Course editor band background and text — the toolbar above content while editing a course

  • Content headings and Content links — headings (H1–H6) and hyperlinks inside lesson content

  • Scorm menu item, Scorm menu active item and Scorm menu background — the lesson menu in SCORM exports

Font

Open the Font tab. To change the colours or fonts of one course only, click Course settings (the gear icon) in that course's editor, or Theme (the palette icon) on its About page, instead — see How do I manage course themes, logos, and branding?

  • Global font family — one font family for every course in your portal.

  • Course font settings — a Heading font and a Body font for the course.

Type scale

Set the size and line height for each level — H1 to H6 and paragraph text (P) — with the − and + buttons. The Aa preview updates as you go, so you can set a clear reading hierarchy and line spacing once for the whole course.

Font changes show in Preview mode and to learners, not while you are editing a page. To change the font or size of specific text in one block, highlight that text in the editor and use the block's own toolbar.

Remove the “Created with Coursebox” badge

The “Created with Coursebox” label appears on courses published from the Free plan. Any paid plan removes it — on Creator and above, your courses no longer show the label anywhere.

Branding the portal itself with your own logo, colours and fonts, as described above, is included on Pro and above. Using your own domain instead of the platform URL requires Pro + LMS.
