How can I force learners to complete videos, SCORM packages, slide decks, or external surveys in Coursebox?

You can stop learners moving on until they've finished a video or a survey. Slides, Embed PDF and SCORM blocks don't have a completion setting.

Videos

  1. Click Video actions (⋮) in the top-right corner of the video.

  2. Turn on Force Completion.

Learners must watch the video to the end before they can move on. For videos uploaded to Coursebox, the progress bar is locked so learners can't skip ahead. YouTube and Vimeo videos play in the provider's own player, so learners can skip ahead; upload the video to Coursebox if completion must be enforced. You can also tick Force Completion when you first add a video. See Add Multimedia.

Surveys

  • Survey block: click the gear icon on the survey and turn on Force completion.

  • Embed Survey block (SurveyMonkey): tick Force Completion before you click Save.

Learners can't go to the next page until they complete the survey. See Survey Options.

Slides, PDFs and SCORM packages

Slides, Embed PDF and SCORM blocks don't have a completion setting. To make sure learners go through a slide deck, turn it into a narrated video with From Presentation in the Videos window, then turn on Force Completion on that video. To check understanding of a PDF or SCORM package, add a quiz after it. See Add a Quiz.
