Can I embed Coursebox courses in another LMS using LTI or SCORM?

Yes, you can embed Coursebox courses into other LMS platforms using either LTI or SCORM.

LTI integration (LTI 1.3)

Coursebox acts as an LTI 1.3 provider, so you can launch your courses inside any LTI 1.3-compliant LMS — such as Moodle, Canvas, Schoolbox, and OpenLearning — with grades and learner progress passed back to the LMS gradebook.

To set it up, open your course, click the Share button, then select LTI. In the popup, click Add New Branded Training Platform and exchange the LTI details between Coursebox and your LMS. The full field-mapping chart (Launch URL, Client ID, etc.) is in Share, Publish & Export a Course.

Open the Share panel and select LTI

SCORM export

You can also export your course as a SCORM package and upload it to another LMS. Open the course, click Share, set visibility to Published, then choose SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004 and download the .zip (upload it to your LMS without unzipping it first).

Selecting SCORM 1.2 or 2004 in the Share panel

Important — the SCORM package is a wrapper. The .zip is small (often around 10 KB) because it is a launcher that calls back to your live Coursebox course rather than containing all the content. This means:

  • Your course must stay published and your account must stay active for the package to keep working.
  • Most content edits appear on the next launch with no re-export — re-export only when the course structure changes (adding or removing pages).
  • A ~10 KB file is expected, not broken.

SCORM vs. LTI — which to choose

  • SCORM 1.2 — widely supported; reports completion and score (pass/fail).
  • SCORM 2004 — adds interaction-level data and sequencing/bookmarking.
  • LTI 1.3 — the deepest integration: live launch plus specific scores and learner progress passed back to the LMS gradebook.

If you need grades and progress to flow into your LMS gradebook, use LTI 1.3 or SCORM 2004 rather than SCORM 1.2.
