Publish a Course
This article explains how to publish your Coursebox course and control who can access it. It covers your publishing options — Restricted, Public (Free), and Paid (Sell) — along with promoting your catalog, search visibility, publicly listing a course, transferring course ownership, and real-world examples of published courses. Publish a course
After finalising your course design, the next step is to make it available to learners. Publishing your course in Coursebox is quick and simple. Once published, your content becomes live and accessible to those you've shared it with.
Whether you're launching a new training program or updating existing content, this step ensures your learners receive the most up-to-date version of your course.
Publish a course as Restricted
Go to Share settings and click Restricted to publish the course as a private course.
When you publish a course as Restricted, learners will need permission to access the course. Learners will see a Request Access button instead of being able to enrol directly.
Available on every plan, including Free. You can publish a course as Restricted (private) on any plan. Keeping a course private and controlling who can access it does not require an upgrade — paid plans are needed for exporting a course (PDF, HTML or SCORM), not for keeping it private.
Publish a course as Public (Free)
When a course is published as Public, anyone with the course link can access it without needing approval.
In the Share panel, go to Learner Access and select Public (Free) from the dropdown.
Public courses show a Get Started button.
Visibility clarification: Publishing a course as Public does not make it appear in any global or public course catalogue. It simply means anyone who has your course link can access it without needing to request permission. To drive learners to your course, you will still need to share the link directly, embed it on your website, or promote it via your own landing page.
If you make it a paid course, you can publish the course only as Public, and a Buy Now button will appear for the course.
Publish a course for sale (sell a course)
In addition to making a course Restricted or Public, you can also sell a course.
Before you can sell your course you will need to link Stripe, PayPal or Paystack. See Managing Payment with Stripe, PayPal or Paystack for setup steps.
In the Share panel, select Paid from the dropdown.
Enter your Price, choose your Currency, and add any Additional Tax % if required.
You'll now see Stripe and PayPal as available payment methods (if both are linked).
Learners will then see a Buy Now button and can purchase the course.
Promote all your courses at once (portal catalog)
As well as sharing a single course, you can promote your whole course catalog from one link. Coursebox gives you a public learner portal on my.coursebox.ai with a searchable catalog page that lists the courses you have made publicly available.
To make your courses appear in your portal catalog:
Set each course you want to promote to Public (Free) or Paid in its Share settings.
Mark the course as Publicly Listed so it shows up in your portal listings and search. Making a course Public on its own does not add it to the catalog.
Leave the Hide in Search option turned off for that course.
Once your courses are Public and Publicly Listed, you can share your portal catalog page as a single link so learners can browse all of your available courses at once. You can also filter the catalog (for example, by your name) to create a link that shows only your courses.
Set a publicly listed course
When a course is marked as Publicly Listed, it becomes visible to anyone browsing your training portal. This means the course will:
Appear in search results and catalog listings
Be accessible to learners without needing a private link
Support broader visibility and enrolments across your audience
This setting is ideal if you want to:
Promote courses to the general public
Offer open-access learning experiences
Increase discoverability for marketing, community, or awareness campaigns
If the checkbox is left unticked, the course remains hidden from public search. In that case, learners will need a direct link or specific invitation to access it.
Note: Public listing does not override enrolment permissions. You can still apply pricing, prerequisites, or access restrictions as needed.
Hide a course from search
If you prefer to keep a course hidden from search results, you can use the Hide in Search option in the Share settings. This prevents others from discovering the course until you're ready to share it. When you're ready to make the course visible again, simply click Make Visible to restore its discoverability.
Transfer course ownership
You can transfer ownership of a course to another user directly from the course's Share panel.
Open the course and click Share (top right).
Click Transfer ownership in the Share settings panel, then select the new owner and confirm the transfer.
