Thinking of cancelling? Your options before you go

If you're thinking about cancelling, we'd love the chance to help first. Often there's a setup, plan, or billing change that solves the problem without losing your courses and progress. Here are the options worth checking before you cancel, what you'll lose if you do, and the steps to cancel if it's still the right call.

Option 1: Pause instead of cancel

Need a break but don't want to lose your work? Pausing stops billing while keeping your account and courses safe, so you can pick up where you left off whenever you're ready. Log in, go to the subscription portal, open your active plan, and choose Pause Subscription. (See “How to pause your subscription” for the full steps.)

Option 2: Downgrade to a smaller plan

If the plan is more than you need right now, you can move to a lower tier instead of leaving entirely. Click the Upgrade button in the top bar, then select a smaller plan in the popup (use the same email as your account). Your charges are prorated for the current billing period.

Option 3: Switch to annual to get more value

If cost is the concern but you still want Coursebox, the annual plan is usually the better deal: you get more AI credits from day one and pay less than monthly billing or repeatedly buying add-on packs. Click Upgrade in the top bar and choose the annual option, or compare plans at https://www.coursebox.ai/pricing.

What you lose when you cancel

Before you go, here's what cancelling does so there are no surprises:

  • Your courses are unpublished and no longer accessible to learners.

  • On a Branded Training Platform, your platform and data are permanently deleted and can't be recovered.

  • Your learners are unenrolled and lose access.

  • SCORM and LTI courses stop functioning, including ones already exported to another system.

⚠️ Important for SCORM / LTI users: previously exported SCORM or LTI courses only keep working while your Coursebox account stays active each year. If you cancel, live training running in your own LMS can stop working. If you've exported courses, please talk to us before cancelling.

If you only need a break, pausing (above) keeps all of this intact — consider it instead of cancelling if you may return.

If you'd still like to cancel

No problem — here's how. In my.coursebox, you must cancel your active plan before deleting your account.

  • Go to Settings > Manage Account.

  • Click the Cancel Plan button and confirm when prompted.

Note: On my.coursebox, cancelling stops future billing but your account stays active until you delete it. On a Creator LMS / Business (Branded Training Platform) plan, cancelling permanently deletes your data.

If you're on a Branded Training Platform (Business & Enterprise), go to Settings > Manage Account, click the red Cancel Plan button, and follow the on-screen steps.

I deleted my account, but I'm still being charged

If you deleted your account but are still seeing charges, this is usually because the subscription was not cancelled before the account was deleted. Here's what may have happened and what to do next:

Please contact our support team at support@coursebox.ai with the email address associated with your account and the dates of the unexpected charges. We will investigate and, where applicable, process a refund for any charges that occurred after your account was deleted.

To avoid future charges, always cancel your plan before deleting your account. Go to Settings > Manage Account and click Cancel Plan first, then proceed to delete your account.
