Can I generate audio versions of course content?

Yes. With the AI Audio feature, Coursebox can automatically convert written text into professional-sounding audio clips. You can choose the voice accent and the voice gender. This is ideal for accessibility, mobile learning, or engaging auditory learners.

Coursebox allows Learning Designers, Creators, and Administrators to automatically generate AI-powered audio versions of HTML text blocks on each course page. This feature enhances accessibility and learner engagement by offering content in both written and spoken formats.

AI Text-to-Audio overview

When you generate a course in Coursebox, AI audio is automatically created for each HTML text block (if AI audio is enabled). These audio files are based on the text content of the page and can be regenerated at any time.

While Coursebox automates much of this process, maintaining alignment between audio and on-screen content is important for learner clarity and overall course quality.

If you change the text on a page, regenerate the audio with Reset all audio so the narration matches your new words. See Reset all audio below.

Listen mode

Listen mode reads everything on the page aloud, so learners can follow the course hands free. It helps with accessibility and suits learners who would rather listen than read.

1. To hear the course as learners do, click Switch to learner view (the play icon) in the top toolbar of the course editor.

2. Click Listen mode (the speaker icon). In the course editor it's in the top toolbar, and in learner view it's at the top right of the page.

Turn on Listen mode for your course

In the course editor, click Course settings (the gear icon) in the top toolbar, then click Listen mode under AI. These settings apply to the whole course. Listen mode always reads all of the content on the page aloud, and it's not currently possible to include or exclude individual blocks or sections.

1. Turn on Enable listen mode for the entire course.

2. Choose a Voice accent.

3. Choose a Voice gender.

4. Click Save.

Best practice: Consider testing both genders for tone clarity and learner comfort, especially for narration-heavy content.

AI Audio — Custom Pronunciation

The Custom Pronunciation feature allows you to control how specific words are spoken in AI-generated audio. This is especially useful for:

• Acronyms (e.g. RTO, LMS, VET)

• Brand names

• Technical terminology

• Industry-specific language

• Names that may be mispronounced

This ensures your course audio sounds professional and accurate.

To add a word, open Course settings → Listen mode, click Custom Pronunciation to expand it, then click Add Word. Each word has these columns:

• Word — The original word as it appears in your content.

• Pronunciation — How you want the AI to say it.

• Preview — Play the pronunciation to test it.

• Remove — Delete the custom entry if needed.

Click Save when you're done.

Reset all audio

After big changes, you can regenerate every AI audio clip in the course with your latest settings. Do this when you have:

• Changed the voice accent

• Changed the voice gender

• Made significant text changes in your course content

1. In the course editor, click Course settings (the gear icon) in the top toolbar, then click Listen mode under AI.

2. Tick Reset all audio on all pages of this course with these new settings.

3. Click Save.
