Can Coursebox integrate with Workday?
Yes — Coursebox integrates with Workday Learning using three methods: SCORM, LTI, or the Open API. The best option depends on your Workday configuration and how much automation you need.
Which method should I use?
Use SCORM if: you want a simple file-based upload with no ongoing connection to Coursebox required. Use LTI if: you want a live, connected experience where completions sync automatically to Workday. Use Open API if: you need advanced automation such as auto-enrolling Workday users or syncing HR data.
Option 1: Integrate via SCORM
SCORM is the most widely supported integration method for Workday Learning. You export your Coursebox course as a SCORM package and upload it directly into Workday.
Step 1: Export your course from Coursebox
Open your course in Coursebox and ensure it is published.
Click the Share button in the top right of the Course Editor.
Select the SCORM option from the share panel.
Choose Export to SCORM 1.2 (recommended for Workday) or Export to SCORM 2004.
A .zip file will download to your computer.
Step 2: Upload the SCORM package to Workday Learning
In Workday, navigate to Learning > Content > Add Content.
Select Digital Course as the content type.
Under Content File, choose Upload SCORM Package and select your .zip file.
Fill in the course title, description, and any required metadata.
Set completion tracking to use the SCORM completion signal.
Publish the content and assign it to learners or learning programmes.
Note: If you update your course in Coursebox, you will need to re-export the SCORM package and re-upload it to Workday. SCORM packages are static files.
Option 2: Integrate via LTI 1.3
LTI (Learning Tools Interoperability) creates a live connection between Workday and Coursebox. Learners launch the course from Workday, complete it in Coursebox, and completion data is sent back to Workday automatically — no manual re-uploading needed.
Step 1: Get your LTI credentials from Coursebox
In Coursebox, go to Settings > Integrations.
Select LTI 1.3 and generate your tool credentials.
Copy the Launch URL, Client ID, and JWKS URL provided.
Step 2: Register Coursebox as an LTI tool in Workday
In Workday, navigate to Learning > Setup > External Learning Tools.
Add a new external tool and enter the Launch URL, Client ID, and JWKS URL from Coursebox.
Save the tool configuration.
When creating content in Workday Learning, select External Content and choose your Coursebox LTI tool.
Learners will see the course in Workday and launch it directly into Coursebox.
Note: LTI availability in Workday depends on your Workday edition and configuration. Contact your Workday administrator to confirm LTI 1.3 is enabled on your tenant.
Option 3: Integrate via Open API
The Coursebox Open API enables advanced, automated workflows between Coursebox and Workday. This is ideal for organisations that want to automate user enrolment, sync completion data, or push Workday HR data into Coursebox.
Common use cases include:
Automatically enrol Workday employees into Coursebox courses when they join a team or role.
Sync course completion data from Coursebox back into Workday Learning records.
Trigger certificate issuance in Coursebox based on Workday events.
To get started with the API, visit the Coursebox Open API documentation or contact support@coursebox.ai for assistance with custom integrations.
